Railroad Tie Recovery

We have an opportunity to recover up to 600 expended railroad ties that are “de-spiked” Saturday January 14, 2023 commencing at 9:00AM

After a few “hiccups” we prevailed establishing a relationship with BNSF tie recovery contractors and gaining their co-operation to recover / harvest expended ties for Como.

Planned Saturday January 14th commencing at 9:00AM we are back in Longmont to recover un-spiked ties, need to sort, bundle and load.

Enter Longmont on US287, or CO119, turn onto CO119 Ken Pratt turn, west, to South Pratt Parkway turn right, north, cross over tracks at bottom of parkway turn left, west, on 2nd and go one block turn left onto Platt which turns into Price along tracks.

The BNSF Front Range is an active track SAFETY will be paramount, work will commence on the west side of expended tie pile, all volunteers will remain 20 feet from track at all time, wear safety apparel; (safety vests, safety helmets, proper work boots, work gloves) is mandatory, extra safety equipment will be available.

Water, light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

We will sort ties, bundle, strap bundles and load. 

If weather becomes a factor the alternative recovery day will be Saturday January 21st.
